When Democrats Vote We Win

Use your vote, always. You should ponder and pray about it, but always vote. #VoteBlue please.

Women’s Rights

Bodily autonomy for all. Everyone has the right to their own body.

Poor People’s Rights

Poverty erodes economic and social rights such as the right to health, adequate housing, food and safe water, and the right to education.

My Three Minute Speech

History has shown that when we Democrats vote, we win! We only need one NC State Senate seat to break that super-majority in the General Assembly. And to do that- we need all Democrats to vote in November. Talk to everyone everywhere. Just do it.

Beside getting all Democrats to vote, my second campaign focus is women’s rights. Politicians make terrible physicians. Bodily autonomy is paramount. My body is my own. Thank you very much. Women’s rights include equal pay for equal work. In the US, a woman earns eighty-four cents for every dollar a man makes for the same work. If you also include part-time workers the gap is even wider- with women earning seventy-eight cents for every dollar a man makes for the same work because women are the ones more likely to be working low-paying, part-time jobs. Is that fair? NO! I do not think so. It is time to fix this. It is just time. I assure you the glass ceiling remains firmly intact. Give us more day care, preschool, and better public schools, maybe then we would have more children, knucklehead! My grandfather was a “kiss the baby politician.” I am too.

Finally, my third campaign focus is poor people’s rights. Pope Francis’ motto is “Hear the cry of the Earth and hear the cry of the poor.” We ignore these cries at our peril. Poverty claims eight hundred lives a day in this country. It is time to build a 3rd Reconstruction and abolish poverty as the fourth leading cause of death. Racism is the reason for underfunded public schools and environmental injustice as evidenced in my home of Stokes County in Walnut Cove, with higher-than-average state cancer rates and well water undrinkable in poor neighborhoods.

As an engineer I understand that lack of funds brings maintenance issues like mold into schools. I am qualified for this job. I have faced challenges in my career being a woman in a man’s world. I was a hydraulic mechanic apprentice at RJR. I managed offshore teams with Wipro, the largest IT outsourcer. I stretched and challenged myself to learn more and to be more. Help me get this job. I support the Democrat’s ideas like health care, women’s body autonomy, public schools, and a leg up for the poor. I will take my project manager experience to the General Assembly to get things done on time and on budget as weird as that sounds!

We Democrats are playing the long game. We will take back the General Assembly eventually with challenging work. Remain vigilant. NC House and Senate districts gerrymandered with “surgical precision;” District courts have ruled unfairly; and our governor was stripped of meaningful power and touché, we won that one back!

I am just a citizen, like you. No more, no less. We the people govern ourselves was the original intent of the founders. Vote even if you do not vote for me. Respectfully, however, I ask that you vote for me. My name is Vivian Fulk for House District 91 in Stokes and North Forsyth.
